Testing Your Charging System
There are several things that we will check to find out exactly why you are experiencing this problem. First, we'll check the battery. We will make sure there is no dirt on the terminals and that all of the connections are in place. If all is well, we'll move on to checking the voltage on the terminals of your vehicle battery. This is typically done with the engine on and other features of your vehicle turned off, such as your headlights. If it has a voltage of at least 13.3 volts, it should be working fine. Sometimes, there could be a problem with the shorted diode that will give me a reading of 13.3 volts and when this occurs I can charge the object out of the vehicle. If all is well after performing the above then we’ll move toward the conclusion that the problem is with the battery.
